POSSIBLE ORIGIN OF ALBISTON NAME. Gwendoline M. Crane, the wife of theRector at St. Mary's Astbury wrote the following: "I have searched ourrecords as requeste and regret that I could find no trace of the baptismsof Jane Gibson, John Booth, Lydia Cartlich or Ralph Foster in the yearswhich you gave me. One interesting fact did emerge and that was areference to a place Alvinton Co. of Staffs, the baptism was of Saradaughter of John Philips. I believe that Alvinson or Alvinton can be avariation o fyour name Albiston and may denote place of origin."
